Quakers Penners
The Borden Meeting of Conservative "friends "originally named "Halcyonia” meeting was founded in the early 1900’s. There was a group of people from the FRITCHLEY area of England who settled in the Thistledale area about 9 miles east of Borden. They built a "meeting house” in 1915 which is still used today.
Living by the original writings of George Fox and Robert Barclay, etc, they were all the salt of the earth.
Although there have been many fractures in the so called Quakers since the early days-splinter groups- I have always felt blessed to see the steadfast example of Christ’s teaching lived by the people near us especially the Wakes.
Nowadays there are so few Conservative Quakers remaining.
