Bylaws

The Bylaw Enforcement Officer provides inspections and regulatory work related to the enforcement of specific bylaws. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer investigates complaints with impartiality, gathers evidence according to established rules and prepares and presents that evidence to council and/or court when called upon to do so.

Bylaws are intended to keep Borden clean, healthy and safe. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer's mandate is to promote, facilitate and enforce general compliance with the provisions of bylaws that pertain to the health, safety and welfare of the community.

The Village of Borden Council is pleased to be able to allow its residents the ability to lawfully operate their golf carts within the municipality.  The Village Council has passed a bylaw which has been approved by SGI to permit golf carts on our roadways, subject to certain conditions.

The application process includes a completed application, with attached proof of liability insurance not less than $200,000, and the application fee of $30.00.  Upon payment received and approved application, you will receive a Borden "license" plate and slow moving sign to attach to your cart.
 
You must:
- have a valid Class 7 Driver's License to operate a golf cart on public property;
- maintain third party liability insurance of $200,000 for yourself and all other operators; and 
- be able to produce identification, a copy of insurance, or other required information as may be required by any designated officer.
