Emergency Services

Emergency Services

Emergency services in the Village of Borden are delivered through a combination of dedicated local volunteers and regional partners to ensure effective response when it matters most.

Emergency Response (911)

For fire, ambulance, or police emergencies, residents should always call 911. Borden’s trained First Responders provide immediate care and support until ambulance services arrive.

Fire & Rescue Services

Fire and rescue protection is provided by the Borden & District Fire Department, a volunteer fire brigade serving the Village of Borden and the surrounding Rural Municipality of Great Bend. The department is equipped with a pumper unit, tanker unit, quick-response vehicle, and jaws-of-life rescue system, and is trained to respond to fires, motor vehicle collisions, and emergency rescue situations.

In addition to Borden and the RM of Great Bend, the department provides service coverage to the Rural Municipalities of Mayfield and Redberry. Mutual aid agreements are in place with the Towns of Radisson and Langham, as well as the Rural Municipalities of Mayfield, Redberry, and Corman Park, strengthening regional emergency response capacity.

Training & Regional Partnerships

Firefighters and emergency responders participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications, operational readiness, and safety standards. Training is supported through regional partnerships, including the Highway 16 Fire Commission, which provides coordinated training opportunities, shared resources, and collaboration among area fire departments.

Training commonly includes:

  • Fire suppression and incident command

  • Motor vehicle collision and vehicle extrication

  • First responder medical response

  • Hazardous materials awareness

  • Pump, tanker, and apparatus operations

  • Occupational health and safety compliance
