Norman Smith Room
Norman Smith Room
Renovated in 2012 as part of improvements to the lower level of the Borden Community Centre, the Norman Smith Room was created to serve as a comfortable and flexible small to medium sized meeting space. The room offers approximately 970 square feet of space and can accommodate up to 40 people, making it ideal for meetings, programs, and small gatherings.
The room is named in honour of Norman Smith, one of Borden’s first councilors, who served the community for an extraordinary 35 years. The renovation of this space was made possible in part through a generous donation from his daughter, Ruby Smith, reflecting the Smith family’s lasting connection to and support for the community.
In addition to meeting use, the Norman Smith Room functions as a true multi-use space with adjoining storage that supports long-term tenants such as the preschool and local dance club. Rentals include access to a small kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, as well as a private washroom, providing added convenience and flexibility for users.
The Norman Smith Room continues to support community programming while honouring Borden’s history of service, volunteerism, and local generosity.
